How can I tell if a rug is a real Persian rug?
Hi everyone,I have the opportunity to buy a persian rug. Here is the info I have (from the seller, so not sure whats correct):35 years oldparents bought in in orientcost 20.000€ (35years back, i do not know the asking price)handmadeoriginal persian rughas some flaws but looks nice overall2,40x3,50The sticker on the back is a rug cleaning company in germanyHeres what I think:I would never say "they bought it in the orient", if my parents bought it somewhere, 2 bhk flats in dadar I would name the countryI think I will go there and see if I am comfortable with the sellerAsking price is way too low (in my opinio) around 500€Their home looks quite nice so I assume they have money, maybe they just want to get rid of it quickly and I can make a good dealEven after reading some stuff on the internet, I do not believe that I cann tell a fake from a real one... senior living homes in india

You could ask a rug company in your area some questions about rugs. I had a large area rug I wanted cleaned and called a rug cleaning company and they knew everything about rugs. They might be able to help you more than us.
Holly is right, a reputable rug company would be able to help you, it is in their best interest if you are potentially going to buy it and have it cleaned by them. They want to do the job right and their reputation is staked on satisfied customers.
Hi Finnshelby,
Have a look underneath and see if the design goes right through...........
Have and appraiser come to look at it. The cost for home trip should not be too costly and you can add it to your insurance policy as a rider if it is very expensive.
Photograph it carefully front and back and go to rug company. I found a small Turkish prayer rug at our town's swap shop and took it to well known local dealer. They were very nice and helpful and it was authentic and I did sell it for a nice price. Your best bet is to ask a professional.
