How or what can I use to reattach stones to a fireplace surround?
my fireplace is real field stone and when it was constructed there were a few spots that needed more stone and Ihave no idea how to fix it simply

You can purchase mortar in a caulking tube. You might want to use something like PowerGrab to put in place and then caulk around the stones with the mortar.

We used Construction Adhesive to Reattach the stone on the outside of our chimney stone chimney. I guess the adhesive recommendation depends on the size and weight of your stones that you need to reattach.
