What works well for us is a 32 oz squirt bottle of 5-6 oz blue dawn dish soap and white vinegar to fill, mix it up, apply and let it set for a few min. Then clean off with a soft bristled brush and rinse with fresh water, repeat as often as needed, let it set longer if you have more difficult stains.
Here is a recipe for cleaning grout. Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into the bottle, then mix in 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide. The baking soda will help remove tough stains and hard water buildup, while the hydrogen peroxide will clean and brighten, cutting through residue on the grout to remove discolorations.
I just purchased this house, and I have been cleaning the grout on my kitchen floors. Do you have a dollar store near you or 99 cents? The orange power, sporayed on tile grout, let sit a few minutes, then with a small brush (not wire, just stiff) scrub, then with paper towel, wipe.
I use vinegar and hot water with a toothbrush and scrub. It's a lot of work, but it looks great. I also use a steamer first to loosen the dirt, but test it first. If grout is very old it could possible loosen it.
Hi Marcha. I'm Cindy. I recommend a product called Oxi Clean Max Force. As with any cleaner, do a test sample first. Then Use an old toothbrush to scrub it into the grout. Let it set 15 or 20 mins. then wipe clean. It's important to give it time to do it's thing. Hope this helps you. Good luck Marcha and happy holidays.
