Betty....Many use the round brushes with chalk paint...many different sizes but a synthetic brush usually works well. Happy chalking!
I like to use a natural bristle brush like these:https://www.amazon.com/Furniture-Painting-Stencils-Bristles-MAXMAN/dp/B07XDVGG61/ref=asc_df_B07XDVGG61/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385339537136&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15710531408318451063&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9058203&hvtargid=pla-837185964440&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=81510837514&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=385339537136&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15710531408318451063&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9058203&hvtargid=pla-837185964440

Typically I opt for natural bristle brushes for just about any paint job. If properly cared for, can last decades. I still have a few left from my dad and he has been gone over 20 years. Always buy the best you can afford within your budget.
Hey Betty! You don't have to use a specific brush. I used to use brushes from the dollar store! If you want less brush marks or to get into details easier, there are specific brushes you can use (like the round Zibra paint brush is really good for getting into details).
you can use chalk paint spray here is a post i did https://www.simplenaturedecorblog.com/turning-a-old-window-into-a-chalkboard-garden/
I like to use purdy brushes. You can buy them at the hardware store. If you wash them properly they will last you a long time!
Hi, Bettie!
I've used regular chip brushes for applying chalk paint and a large round brush for applying wax... I hope this helps!
When I have used chalk paint, I used inexpensive foam brush. It came out better than what I expected!
You can use pretty much any brush you like.
