Wood putty will fill in. Make sure it is stained to match before you apply. It does not take stain when dry.
Hi ! You can get wood putty and mold it into the chipped area , then sand it to make it look like it is the right fit then stain it , matching the color of your furniture !
good luck !!!
I’ve seen repair putty in various colors, hopefully there’s one that matches your piece.
Jackie: wood putty is what you need! (Then the easiest thing is to paint it)
Some wood putty is tinted to wood colors. A good match will save you some work. Otherwise, find a neutral color putty and mix a small amount with a stain that matches your furniture. With latex gloves on, mix a small amount of putty and stain. Work a small amount into your damaged area, trying to keep it as flat to the surface as possible so you won't have to sand. I use a metal, narrow, paint scraper. Carefully work it smooth. Still doesn't match? Make careful repairs on all damaged areas. Let dry. Then, sand the entire surface and restain the entire surface with a gel stain. Painted surfaces are basically the same, but, simpler.
Without knowing how big the chips are...
The pro furniture restorers like colored putty that is a two/parts in a Tootsie Roll kind of shape, that they cut off what they need and kneed it.
