Hi Rebecca, sound like over watering
One of the most common issues with spider plants is water stress. ... Plants should not be standing in a saucer of water and they need high enough humidity to avoid leaf tip burn. Overwatering is a cause of spider plant leaves turning black or dark brown. The soil should dry out slightly between irrigations.
Sounds like a classic case of over watering, Give them a chance to slightly dry out before watering.
Too low humidity, mist them
When the soil is dry, try putting the plant in your bathroom when you take a shower. The humidity will be good for it.
The last few comments about soil and watering seem to be the main consensus.
However, we have countless number of plants, some of which are 4 tiered, so putting them in the bathroom isn’t much of an option for us lol
Additionally, we have a new HVAC system which includes an attached humidifier. We typically keep it at 48%.
What percentage would you recommend that would help with the plants?
