How do I build a jewelry organizer lined with silver cloth?

I want to use a top dresser drawer for jewelry storage. I'd like a compartmentalized tray lined with silver cloth so that my silver jewelry won't tarnish.

  • If you don't want to build the compartments, you could use a cutlery organizer and/or small containers from the dollar store. The cloth is available on Amazon and you can cut it to fit your containers.

    • Try local thrift stores for trays and containers. You never know what you'll find! Good luck with your project!

As Ann has suggested, you can get the silver cloth on Amazon.

Hello, and thanks for your reply. I watched this video when I was throwing around ideas (in my head), but the building part isn't something I could do myself. I doubt that I could construct the video's content even with foam board. I was looking for something that would be easy and relaxing with a big reward at the end - cutting wood (or foam board) would be great, but the anxiety would offset the relaxation for this project. I will take Ann's suggest of getting some silver cloth on Amazon - or maybe even at a huge fabric outlet that's not too far.

Hi ! Sounds like a good idea , a great idea for a place to store your jewelry . I would go to T J Max or Home goods where you can find good quality drawer organizers at a great price . Your idea for lining it with silver cloth , sounds good , but won't work .

the silver jewelry needs to be enclosed within the cloth , to keep it from tarnishing . Just laying it on a section lined in silver cloth won't protect it plus it won't be visable to see which piece of jewelry is in it . I make jewelry , and when I make something out of silver I keep it in a small jewelry sized zip lock plastic bag that is specifically treated to keep silver from tarnishing . By using these you can keep your jewelry tarnish free and be able to see if ! You can find these at jewelry making supply stores , possibly at Michael's or hobby lobby . You can also buy anti tarnish strips that you can put in small plastic bags . Good luck !!!

    • Better visit AC Moore quick as they are going out of business. Stores are already almost empty.

Could you consider one of those thrift store silverware chests? They are very inexpensive there. Bloggers buy them all the time and refurbish them usualky painting them white.....

Perhaps find one with the right anti tarnish cloth or replace existing with new cloth.

I'm THRILLED to tell y'all that this project is complete! I took all of your suggestions and ended up with tackle box inserts from my uncle's garage. I was able to lift out the separator, line the bottom of each with the no-tarnish velvet and replace the separators. Easy Peasy!

A big THANKS to e everyone who shared ideas!!
