What kind of countertop is very durable?
Time to change out my countertops but I want to use something that I don't have to be super careful with. I have porcelain now and on the backsplash. I want to keep the backsplash. Suggestions please.

Formica is the easiest and they have improved the look so much now.
What is your budget like? I would do something like man-made quartz if you can put some money into it. That is one of the best countertops with little care!
Jo: Ann is correct -- formica has come a long way and is the most inexpensive option.
I agree with K Rupp. Silestone is one brand of quartz. It is almost impervious to any damage. Chemicals won't hurt it, heat can't touch it and it will dull your knives before it ever scratches.
Formica is a very inexpensive option with some really good choices lately. Quartz (although more pricey) is my favorite as it's so durable and will last forever.

Granite and quartz are both very good options.

Quartz and granite are very durable. Every material is going to have its pluses and minuses, you'll need to do some research on what will best fit your needs and your budget.
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the feedback so much.
I love how the quartz countertops look.
quartz or granite
Granite.
If you have access to a truck and are near a big city, you can buy pre-made 8’x25” granite countertops, quite reasonably.
Depending on the particular granite, we’re talking $150 for an 8’ section of countertop, & up.
You’ll need someone with a diamond-crusted blade on an angle grinder to miter the corners and do the sink cut out, for a self-rimming sink.
