I have An old washboard I would like to take and make a welcome sign to put on my front door for decoration
Paint the wooden part with chalk paint and use a Welcome stencil. Use two eye hooks on the top and hang from a piece of brown twine. If you don't already have a hook use a command hook to hang it.
I put an old washboard near my laundry area. I used the Command picture strips (they look like velcro) and hung it that way. You can also find adhesive messages like Hello and Welcome that you could adhere to the washboard. Have fun with it and maybe take a few pictures and post it here. I would love to see it!
You can add a wooden "welcome" to it, hand paint it, use a vinyl "sticker", or individual letters. Make sure to seal it before hanging outside.
If you know someone with a Silhouette or Cricut, you could have them print out a template with the phrase you want. Otherwise, you may be able to buy a stencil at Hobby Lobby (or any craft store) or on Etsy.
Hi Ruth, here are some directions on how to transfer anything you can print onto your washboard. You just need some graphite paper or chalk and you can paint on any saying you would like :) Have fun!! https://recreateddesigns.myshopify.com/pages/how-to-transfer
Ruth: here are some cute ideas!!
Hi Ruth, here's a cute idea for making the welcome sign, hope it helps you.
This may help you, even though it's not on a washboard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPHmSMDoZKY
Ruth....You can free hand the letters or purchase wooden letters and paint then use E6000 glue to attach to board...I would add a touch of color with some flowers or greenery. Send a picture when you decide and after it's finished. Good luck
I upcycled one and used it in my laundry room. If you go to this post and scroll down to the last pictures you'll see mine and you can see how I used chalkboard paint and magnetic clothespins ... this might help you create your welcome sign. https://chascrazycreations.com/thrift-store-laundry-sign-upcycle/
