That sounds like a great project. I am envisioning a captain's wheel cut in half for each of the bed headboards.

I particularly like the wall behind these simple beds:
(#67 on this site https://beachfrontdecor.com/beach-themed-bedroom-ideas/ )
You can paint the walls a light blue and hang sheer white curtains. Perhaps a couple boat oars on the wall with hooks going down the length to hang hats, jackets, etc. For bed spreads / comforters go with either white or white and blue. And, last but not least, hang some fish net in the corner and put star fish, sea horse, or even sea shells in the net.

It appears I am thinking of a Captains Bed, not a bunk
Hello Kevin,
Push a bed frame against a wall and build a frame around it, so you have storage wardrobe on one or both sides, a Storage cupboard above and drawers under the bed. Decorate to taste. I always find making a drawing first is a good way to start. It helps me gauge the timber quantities etc. Enjoy the journey................
