Chalk paint is a specially formulated paint usually used to redo furniture. It has a chalky looking matte finish. It requires little prep work to use, comes in many colors, and needs to be finished with a top coat of wax or poly. It is a paint that is recommended for interior use but you can use it for outside projects if you seal it with an exterior poly. There are many brands available and quality varies among the brands. It is NOT to be confused with "chalkboard" paint. There are many uses for the paint-it is not limited to just furniture-but it is not a paint that you would use just anywhere.

Naomie gave you some good links! I'll add that it's something that people often use when painting furniture and that it has a matte, chalky appearance. It gives things a vintage, farmhouse style. It can give an aged appearance, and it can be distressed easily.
Chalk Paint is a type of paint (actually, it's a trademarked brand of paint by Annie Sloan, but other companies have similar paints also) that can be used on furniture and other items to create a chalky appearance. It's used for creating an aged appearance, and can be distressed easily.
