Ideas for a large lamp shade ?
Any creative ideas for making a large lamp shade? I have a huge floor lamp that I need a shade for and I can’t seem to find anything that looks great on it so I’d like to make something!

Look up Thrift shops in your area. They usually have a lot of lamps for sale at a really great price. Check by using your zipcode.

Hello Nancy,
Try - eBay ? Otherwise - I assume you don't have a frAME YOU COULD RECOVER? Try this shape out using cardboard . Measure the diameter you want the shade to be. Make a wire ring that is not bendy. Make another wire ring the size you want the top opening to be, and make a wire ring that size. Measure all around the outside of the largest circle and add 1/2" for overlap on sheet of paper. Then draw another circle in the centre of that the size of the smaller ring. Cut out the large circle and then the smaller one. Cut a straight line between both. You should have a skirt shape. As a trial, sello tape the paper to the frame. and try it out. If it ok! Cut it out in card and stick to frame, If it needs adjusting ( at least it hasn't been a waste - do so on the card. If you need to use a shade extender for height. Decorate and trim to taste. Hope that's of some help to you.........
