How do i get rid of squirrels?

I had a squirrel in my yard, cute, but now he has a wife and 5 or 6 kids, tearing up my flower beds and garden boxes! Bought some repellent spray, didn't work, and can't seem to hit them with the BB gun. HELP

Sprinkle cayenne pepper all around. They hate it.

Mix up a garlic oil and putrescent egg mix. Let it sir, then mix with a few drops Dawn dish liquid detergent and some peppermint essential oil. Spray on garden perimeter.

  Never found peppermint to deter them one bit. Chipmunks are just as destructive. Here you are not permitted to shoot grey squirrels unless they are in season, but red squirrels are fair game anytime. In my yard they shuck long pine cones like corn at the tops of the trees sometimes 25 a day and all of the centers of the cones and pieces are all over my drive. They dig up bulbs and I think the chipmunks do the same. If someone has a real answer that works lets hear it.
  I have heard used kitty litter but don't have a cat right now nor do any of my neighbors. Supposedly it is the smell of the enemy to them.

Get a bag of blood meal from the nursery, spread through garden. The squirrels don't like blood smell at all and it also is a mild fertilizer

Squirrels and chipmunks tend to avoid bulbs which have been dipped in Thiram, before planting. Many gardeners plant bulbs in buried heavy mesh cages to deter these rodents. Kathy Gunter Law's advice re: cayenne pepper has also been helpful. Surrounding or interspersing bulb beds with garlic or chives may work for you.
