You can, but it will change the finish.
You can but it will change the glossy sheen.
Kay: it will change BOTH finishes!
I would spot test it first to make sure you like the effect you're going to get.
Hello you might want to try with a small sample before doing the whole container. It’ll change the characteristics of those paints you’ll lose the gloss costs and lose the chalky finish. I’m not sure what or how pleasing the final result would be.
Experiment a bit and you'll find out....maybe just a small amount, then if you like the result, go for it. Are you just trying to use up old paint or do you have a specific look in mind? Sometimes you can get a nice effect by using flat paint and then glossy paint of the same color to make subtle stripes on a wall or piece.
Mix a little of each and give it a trial run on the piece you plan to paint-in an unnoticeable place on it. Keep track of the proportions of each paint so you can re-create the "look".
Hi Kay, most chalk paint is water based and glossy paint is usually oil based. But I would experiment with a little bit.
I agree that experimenting is the only way you'll know for sure. Good luck and let us know how it goes if you do!
You can mix water based gloss paint with it but it won’t create glossy chalk paint if that’s what you’re hoping. It’ll create a sheen between.
You can only mix if both paints are latex. Mixing will however defeat the purpose of both finishes.
