How does one 'revive' velcro fastners?
fastening straps on a personal medical aid no longer holding. Used every other day for about a year. No apparent 'damage', but a lot of lint build up (I know that has to come out, but what is the easiest way?)
You might be able to attach new Velcro to the straps. Sew it on.
I have taken a fine toothed comb and combed it out.

A fine tooth comb, the kind for removing lice eggs, would work best.
There are some tips here:

Hello. It is often recommended to use a fine tooth comb like a flea comb to remove all the debris stuck in your Velcro. Hope this helps
