I had learned a long time ago about PVC material being Toxic. I checked online recently to see if maybe this has in some way changed ~ but it has Not!

Pvs pipes are constantly used ... so I can't imagine that they are not safe
PVC should not be used for potable water but can be used for drainage. That is what CPVC is for. Fumes are toxic when it burns. PVC is used to replace wood trim. A lot of replacement windows are made out of PVC or clad in PVC. Some composite decking is made from PVC. People make projects out of PVC pipe.
