Hi Gladys, Here a vid that should help you out
I used an entire box of baking soda in our washer recently, and it worked really well.
Hello Gladys, whether you have a front loading or top loading washer, these tips should help!

Add two cups of white cleaning vinegar to detergent dispenser. Run it through a complete cycle. Run another cycle on the highest level and at the hottest water temperature, this time adding one-half cup of baking soda to the drum. When cycle is done, wipe inside drum of washer with a damp microfiber cloth

I do not have a "recipe" - I just wipe the interior down with plain white vinegar (I live alone and do not have grimy stink laundry, if a family wou would need to use "cleaning vinegar"), then run an empty load with vinegar in the rinse cup filled with vinegar and a cup of baking soda in the washer after the tub starts to fill with water. In addition, I use vinegar in the rinse cup instead of fabric softener, about a 1/4 cup baking soda in every load. Just picked up a 15 lb bag at Sam's Club the other day for $7. Lasts me about 6 months. 2 gallons of white vinegar are $3.49.
This may help, but it involves bleach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWhW0AAVyxk
I have a front load washer and I love it. One thing I always do is empty it of wet clothes when the cycle finishes. Then I leave the door open between loads so it airs out. About once a week I wipe the gaskets down, since dirt and moisture can get trapped inside. I don't use bleach, but Oxiclean with a load seems to be helpful in keeping it fresh. Adding a cup of vinegar once in awhile is useful, too, especially washing towels! Good luck and stay safe!
I run an empty load using only vinegar in the detergent section on occasion, but if it is a front loader, you do need to prop the door open between washings.
Hi Gladys - This is a great step-by step article on how to clean your washing machine and get the stinky smells out - regardless of whether it's HE, top or front loading. Hope this helps and happy laundry day! Hugs, Holly
