I would use a power washer as prep before you paint the concrete. A power washer is the best for cleaning stone, brick and patios. It also will get any loose, peeling, debris off the concrete (if you have that) Check out my post:

You can use this paint for concrete!! It is fantastic paint and really soaks into the top layers of concrete. IT IS NOT CONCRETE STAIN though so if that is what you are looking for, stain is not paint. Even though on the can it says concrete stain, it really is a paint. I go into detail on how to paint a concrete patio floor...It was easy! Follow the directions in the post. It was easier than painting a bedroom to be honest. With this concrete paint you don't need a primer or a sealer. Good luck!
Hi Deborah, they makes special paint for concrete. If you ask at your local paint store or building supply, they can recommend when paint to use
thanks so much
Make sure you use an etching cleaner first. That will help. I would go to a paint store like Sherwin Williams to get the best long lasting paint for the job.

Concrete paint of any brand pretty much all works the same.
We painted our concrete patio a few years ago and it's held up fantastic even in our rough winter climate. Here's a peek if you like: https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2018/08/how-to-paint-concrete-patio-makeover.html
Yes, I prefer stain. But if you’ve existing paint, then power wash, as noted above. Prep work is critical.
Check Home Depot. We used a specific concrete paint for our garage and basement floor.
