Quick and Budget Friendly Father's Day Gift Idea
I put together a budget friendly "bouquet" for Dad!
Father's Day is just a few days away and I wanted a budget friendly gift for Dad.
I have seen many edible bouquet ideas and decided to put one together with my kids for the hubby! I took a quick trip to the dollar store to get my "supplies".
I got a block of floral foam for a support for the base and to stick the picks into. I cut it to fit the size I needed with a bread knife.
I find that the bread knife works really well for cutting foam.
Next, I used boxed candy to form the base. I used different varieties so I made sure they would line up to make square corners before buying them.
I then took clear take and wrapped it around the boxes to hold them in place. I kept the tape in the center because I planned to cover it later.
Next, I doubled up some colorful tissue paper I had left over. I stuffed it into the center. This will cover the floral foam!
I took wood skewers and taped them to the back side of snack size candy bars. I cut some of the skewers down so I had varying heights.
Then I just started poking the skewers into the floral foam. I arranged as I went.
After I had the candy in, I arranged the tissue paper around the base.
I wrapped some ribbon around the base to dress it up and cover the tape.
I decided the bouquet still needed something but I did not want to make another trip to the store. Instead, I grabbed some construction paper, a sharpie and some scissors.
I wrote little notes on the construction paper and then cut fun shapes around them.
I taped those to skewers as well and placed them in the bouquet.
I think it turned out really cute! It can serve double duty as a gift and a centerpiece for Sunday dinner! The great thing about this project is you can customize it! You can use beef jerky or other snacks. I have even seen one with mini liquor bottles. There are so many possibilities!
