How do I remove dog urine stains from a jute fiber rug?
I've tried regular carpet cleaners and they don't work very well on this type of material.

Have you tried an enzyme product? They usually work well on any type of material. Or baking soda and vinegar? Good luck and stay safe!

Hello. I have found the Oxi clean type carpet cleaners to be very effective have you tried that one?
You need to use an enzymatic cleaner. I would get one from a pet store. They have some that are specific for animal urine stains.
n a clean spray bottle, mix one cup of distilled white vinegar with one cup of water and 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Shake it up to mix the ingredients, and then spray on the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then blot with towels until clean.
Use regular clothes soap and a brush if you could if not use a cloth clean front side and back of rug let it sit about 30 min the wash out

I don't believe jute should get wet. Pet urine smell is difficult to remove and if you don't get rid of it, the dog may go potty at the same spot. I've heard a pet expert recommend Kids and Pets, so it must work. It's available at WalMart with the regular cleaning items....not in the pet dept. Good luck.
Hi Espie, so sorry to hear that. It's a common problem. Mix ¼ cup of baking soda with 1 cup water, 1/3 cup distilled white vinegar, and about 1/4 cup of mild dish soap. Put the solution in a spray bottle a mix thoroughly before spraying it on the stain. Rub it in lightly with a clean cloth and let it stand for about 20 minutes. Rinse the solution away with a damp cloth and let it dry thoroughly. Be sure to test the mixture first on a spot to make sure it won’t discolor or damage your rug.
Thanks everyone for your good suggestions. I'll try the homemade first, and if it doesn't work well, I'll head for the pet store. Stay safe & God bless.
