2000 square foot pool room in desperate need of a talented decorator
How would you decorate this ?
On a budget but wanted to give it a makeover. I’d love to have murals painted on the walls but I have no artistic talent 😳 tropical??
Then I was thinking of having someone come in and make it over then use the before and after to advertise their talent?

Hello. Your personal taste/ decor style might dictate your design choice. Some folks like bold colors some neutral. I personally find browsing awesome visuals on Houzz or Pinterest web sites to help collect some ideas to consider/ exclude others in aspects of color choice and styles for most decorating and refurb applications.
You might want to consider browsing over at these sites utilizing key word searches customized to your specific needs or interest. Additionally I would consider thinking about using stencils for tropical leaves.
You could paint the walls yourself a different color and then use tropical stencils to get t he look you want! Here's a Hometalk example! This could be really fun!

Planter pots with Palm Trees
Hi Kim, a few well-placed large indoor plants in large pots would do a lot to soften and enhance the look of your pool and they would thrive in the humid area . They would also absorb some of the harsh sounds often asssociated with indoor pools. Painting a tropical design would be nice though not necessarily need to be done by an artist. Even painting the walls in an ombre-style blues or greens would give the feel of lush tropical area and not lok as "busy" as leafy painted murals. A natural wood storage unit to hold crisp towels would look nice as well as perhaps a ew comfortable chairs with colorful cushions.
Hi Kim, you could really clean it up well just by using a moisture resistant bright white paint on the ceiling and rafters and walls. From there, get a few silk palm trees and some bamboo accents as a start. Hope this helps
Hi Kim, It is a beautiful area and so much that you can do. I would start by painting the walls and add a stencil if you are not able to paint something freehand. You could also add some curtains to match and then I would add some plants to the walls. You can drill holes for wall mounted pots and add some tropical greenery right to the walls.
Bamboo shades that go all the way to the floor. Curtains made out of sheets in a tropical pattern that go all the way to the floor. The cheaper the better because you won't be sleeping on these. You can fold the sheet and make a valence with the excess. Cheap shower curtains or patio tablecloths might work but you will get more fabric in sheets. You'll want at least 1 1/2 to 2 times the width of the window in your curtain. You could use bold stripes like a cabana or floral like a jungle and you won't need a mural. Put in some low light plants like ferns and you're set. Some different color string lights in those rafters would be fun too.
i suggest you use color and keep it clean and simple in design . I would not "busy" the wall with murals. I would choose a solid color to contrast with ceiling . The ceiling rafters and wall shouldn't be a similar color. Instead CONTRAST. The blue of the water is your third color , so all 3 colors should be beautiful together. Curtains ? I would lose them.
Hi Betsy👋 I too was thinking of painting the ceiling blue 👍🏻 And then I thought maybe painting each wall a different colors with tropical plant’s. Ahhh this is where I can’t decide 😝
