Use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and wax :)
There are paints and dyes especially for leather and suade.
Tandy Leather stores and on -line sell leather dyes.
Real leather must breathe. Paint will ruin it.

Hello Ann,
Better to Stain Leather with a Leather Dye! You can go darker but not lighter!
Hi Ann. Begin by cleaning the leather. You can use isopropyl alcohol to clean it with. Then you could either use paint created for this exact purpose or you can also make your own solution with equal parts of water-based acrylic paint and water. Good luck Ann.
Here's a tutorial that should help you plan your project.

Mix a solution of 1 part water-based acrylic paint and 1 part water. Apply the diluted paint to the leather using a wool dauber. Apply only a light coat. Do not over-soak the leather.
I think acrylic paint is not right for leather, faux Leather or vinyl or faux vinyl. The acrylic paint takes FOR-EVER to dry an sometimes won’t fully dry at all in some spots idk then you need to think about sealing the couch. Trust me I’ve been researching this for like over a year I need to just bite the bullet and do it myself but I’ve watched tons of YouTube videos about this and no one says acrylic and the people who have or have done it in acrylic it this is how I know this you need to use a chalk style paint. I did a chair, I don’t know if it’s real vinyl or fake vinyl but I did a vinyl chair and I did it in chalk paint and it worked out great! I sealed it with a clear wax. I’m getting ready to do my couch! It is a big old leather one but I’m totally not questioning doing it in chalk style paint that’s for sure the choice!!
