Water erupting out of my vent pipe?
When the garbage disposal side is full of water and I run the disposal water gushes out of the Studor vent. This happened a month or 2 ago, when I checked everything the vent had worked itself loose. So I tightened it back down and didn’t have any problems. Now it happened again but It was still tight. Could the vent have failed? Or maybe a clog in the drain. We don’t have an issue till we put force behind the water, i.e. run the disposal with a half full sink of water.

Hi! It probably is a clog, but, this type of valve does fail sometimes. Maybe this video will help you decide:

Yes, the vent could have failed. There also/instead could be a clog of debris somewhere in the line. The Studor vent could need to be raised higher. I would check for clogs first. Next, check to see if the vent has failed. Finally, check to see if it must be raised higher toward sink level.
I think you need to get it checked by some experts. Look into local service which can mend it.
Its not a good option to ignore it more.

Who installed the garbage disposal drain pipe? The pipe needs to have a downward pitch to the main sink drain. I have forgotten the percentage or the angle.. Look it up. Mine has the same issue and my X said he realized he didn't have the correct angle/drop.. So I can get some back flow to the sink. But the best solution is not to stuff a bunch of "crap" down the disposal. I use a garbage can..and make sure I collect bits into my main sink stainer/plug and toss into garbage...also nothing greasy gones down my sink..If I cook with oil or bacon etc..the frying pan is drained after cooling into the garbage can and once most cleared I wipe it out with a paper towel.

A lot of folks don't know that rice and pasta are not meant to be put into garbage disposals. My cousin is a commerical plumber and he sees this issue all the time clogging up pipes and backing up the disposals. Clean out the pipes and the garbage disposal (be sure power is off) and then try it again - they also make drain openers to use in a garbage disposal. You may need to call a plumber
Recommend checking out hellodwelling.com to video chat directly with a plumber to get input on this. Some great tips recommended by others. If you can't identify the issue based on the above advice, there are a few causes that are best reviewed with the help of a professional.
Hi Brandon, likely a clog, hope this link helps you out,

I got a huge clog after macaroni went down the garbage disposal. The pipe as well as the outside pipes had to be cleaned out. We went to Home depot and got a snake that fits on a drill. It had a 50 foot radius and that did the trick without having to take apart the pipes.
Maybe you need to raise the vent if the other options don't work.
It wouldn’t hurt to pour a lot of septic tank enzymes in there and let it sit for a day.
I think you have air in your pipes .. you need to clear that
