Charcoal bags ?

You could make the bags of any air permeable material like coffee filters or a fabric. By the time you find the activated charcoal though, it might be easier, faster, and less expensive to buy them pre-made. Ideally, track down the moisture source to eliminate it.

Take two wash cloths. Stitch 3 sides, fill with charcoal then stitch the top closed. The wash cloths have an open weave to let the charcoal do it's job. Rarely is PRE-made cheaper than DIY. You can buy charcoal ready many places on line as well.

I might buy the moisture absorbing packages. I put one in my little safe to get rid of musty paper smell. It last for years in that small volume. However, getting rid of moisure smell source is best bet.

You could just put the charcoal into a bowl and let it breath. Hide it or leave it in the open. It will do the job. Something else you may not have thought of is Tea bags, they do the same job! You can also buy Shake and Vac that would leave a good odour and collect any damp in the carpet. You can also buy Cheap Silica Gel Damp containers from stores.

You can place the charcoal in the mesh bags that fruits and veggies come in from the store, or use the open-sided smal berry containers, or even an open bowl. Any of these items will "contain" the charcoal to allow it to do its work. If you want to sew bags, any natural fabric such as cotton or linen would be best.

Hang it in muslin fabric or mesh. There is also a product called oderban which works wonders for musky odors

I saw someone who took her hubby's old tube socks. They are easy to tie closed and wash when refilling.

I buy charcoal odor chasers at walmart they are about $3-4 and they work great in musty closets, basements etc

you will find them in a plastic oval shaped container in the area where the closet items are or else in the ironing board areas
