Dishwasher has a awful odor .I used cleaning products for dishwashers but it did not help .It smells like garbage It's been like that ever since it was hooked up. Could it be hooked up wrong? Thank You.

I don't know if it has been hooked up wrong, but I would try this first: Place one cup of white vinegar in a bowl on the top rack of the dishwasher. Run the dishwasher on the hottest cycle available. The acids in the vinegar will break down deposits on the interior of the appliance and leave it smelling fresh. Remove the bowl from the dishwasher once the cycle is complete.

Clean the filter regularly, it can be found at the bottom of your dishwasher. Review your owner's manual to learn how to remove it.
You should also check that the spray arms are clean and not clogged. Just run it under water to see if any of the holes are blocked. If they are, use a toothpick to loosen any debris caught in the holes.
Make sure you clean out the filter which is typically located at the bottom. Run an empty load with a cup of vinegar either poured in the bottom or in a glass on the top rack. That should help.

Did you try white vinegar?
Empty the appliance of all dishes.
Place one cup of white vinegar in a bowl on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Remove the bowl from the dishwasher once the cycle is complete.
Sprinkle a cup of baking soda on the floor of the dishwasher.
Run a short cycle at the hottest temperature setting to ensure all the baking soda dissolves. This should leave your dishwasher smelling fresh and clean.
Sounds like something is stuck in the drain and rotting.
