Do you have interesting shaped bottles that you hate throwing away? Turned them into decorative pieces.

I gave my friend Mary a few bottles and she made magic with them!

This was one of the bottles. I don't have pictures of the other ones but you get the idea.

She first submerged the bottles in warm water for up to an hour to remove the labels using a razor blade.

Then she primed them with the following product:

After this dries well (about 24 hours), she added the oxidizing paint with rust activator:

You can follow the instructions that are in the back of the bottles but I will try to explain the process here the best I can.

The oxidizing paints creates a real rust. Apply 2 to 3 coats of the oxidizing to guarantee good coverage and let each coat dry.

The oxidizing copper and bronze paint along with their patina aging solutions are applied slightly differently. Apply a single coat of the paint, let dry completely. Apply a second coat if first coat coverage isn't satisfactory. Let dry completely.

Then apply the rust activator with spray bottle or a sea sponge.

This picture shows the bottle with the rust already dried.

The next step is to apply the patina which is magical!

Last coat, while wet, gets sprayed with whichever patina aging solution is preferred.

Here she had sprayed the patina and it was starting to activate.

For this bottle, she decided to do the patina on only half the bottle and spray it upside down so that the patina would run down.

Patina has activated creating an amazing combination of rust and blues/greens.

Here are the bottles already finished and dry. She also did the caps and I love how they turned out.

She then added some "embellishments" to make them even more beautiful but this step is optional.

Note: She spent around $50 for all the products but she has done lots of bottles and still has a lot of product left, so cost per bottle would be small.
