Hi Mary, hope this helps you out,

Try a little mayonnaise. Rub it in gently with a soft cloth.
Olive oil works too, but be sure to wipe the excess off.
If the top of the table is laminate, it may not be possible to remove the stain as easily as if it were solid wood.
Hi Mary, if your table is real wood, you can put a dollop of mayonnaise on top of the stain and let it sit for a few hours. Wipe it off with a clean rag and buff.
If mayo does not work you will need to sand the surface down and re stain and seal it.
Hello. That’s upsetting to happen even though you have preventative measures in place.

Thank you! Thank you!... So very much to all the strategies 😊 It took me like 4 times x 2 hours! I used the warm iron and the mayonnaise 🎉 Lots of Patience... my dinner table looks much much better!
Thank you all and Thank you Hometalk.com 🙌🏼🎉
Hi Mary, I see that others have answered your question. I had the same thing happen to my table--so upsetting--had to get it professionally repaired--but what I wanted you to know is how I stopped stressing about it happening again--I got a glass top made--works wonderful and every time I Windex the top--it's so shinny and pretty--It's been probably about 8-9 years now and it has never happened again. Anyway good luck, sister :)
Mayonnaise or olive oil should work
I had a similar issue with my night stand (water and essential oil spilled and I didn’t realize until morning). I used a damp microfiber cloth with baking soda and it removed the build up. I then used a clean microfiber cloth to get all the grit off. Then I used regular furniture polish. And to my surprise it looks better than before. I’m going to try in on my dining room table because I have the same issue
