Insulation coming through vents
I have an insulation problem, it is coming through every vent in the home. It has ruined my carpets, it would take hours and days to get it cleaned only for it be the same way hours after. Under beds is the worst and inches thick! We cleaned our furnace where the filter sits. That entire area had insulation sticking to everything. This issue may be due to a non profit energy efficient company coming here to install extra insulation in our attic. I have researched this for hours, that looks to be the culprit, with moisture also having a possible effect as well. My daughters room is always the coldest, I read on a website about mold growth in that type of room. Sure enough upon pulling out the bed there was a small crack in the corner with black mold growing, window sills had small spots as well. We may in fact have several major problems if this moisture is as bad as I'm reading it could be. Everything stated, we have in this home. Concrete steps outside have shifted and are uneven with cracks in the sidewalk. Around the bathtub we had to recaulk due to the original clear caulk looking very dirty with black underneath it. We instead used white. Window sills are usually wet in the summer, the patio door seems to be worst. Below freezing temperatures causes ice build up on the inside of that one. Turning on the central air after not using it in a while has a very weird smell, hard to compare it to anything else. Ideas? Tips? This house was put here in 1980, and very well kept up, still is. These carpets are what is definitely bothersome, and worrying about the air quality with small children!

Have you called the folks that put that insulation in?
Just because they are non profit that doesn't mean they are free did you pay them?
Do you have a contract?
If so what are the details regarding the quality of their work?
I would be concerned with the apparent amount of excess moisture inside. It might be a good idea to have a professional look at this. Mold is not something to mess with yourself.
I would assume that some of your HVAC ducts have separated in the attic. Sucking insulation into the ductwork. Could be the insulation company accidentally did it. Could be the reason the cold room. No heat getting in. You may want to call a heating company to investigate and have your ducts cleaned. They may be full of insulation restricting air flow.
Hi, yikes! Sounds like a bad installation and improper attic stops, hope this link helps you out! I think you will need to call in a professional

you need to call the company who did the work and ask them what to do about this issue- and if you have mold that has to be taken care of because of health issues
I would contact the company that did the insulation. Loose insulation floating around is not good. I would also contact a mold-abatement company.
Thank you for your replies! I have reached out to that company. I'm sure hoping they are able to help us out with this situation! I will update as this unfolds. Being non profit I'm not quite sure how this might end up. Thank you! Much appreciated!
If you can't get a resolution to your problem, it might be time to contact your homeowners insurance.
Hello there,
Sounds as if you should call in a n Insulation Specialist to advise you how to proceed. Not sure if you have ducting to supply your ventilation system or you have vents only in your walls that are not contained and connected (Double) or just single vents! If single vents then this would allow any insulation within the cavity to escape into the vents from the cavity. Yes, an Expert to check it out for you is what is required.
I am so sorry! Have you tried contacting a insulation company to get it repaired
I would have an HVAC specialist come out and inspect your vents. It sounds as if there may be a hole in the vent near some blown in insulation.
Also, invest in a dehumidifier. That will help with possible mold & mildew issues.
Update! After contacting our homeowners insurance we went through the claim process and had our ducts cleaned and all new carpeting. It's been 2 weeks and nothing has changed! Our brand new beautiful carpets are now full of this stuff coming from our vents yet again. We did have blown in insulation in our attic shortly before this had started happening so that seems to be the culprit but where this is coming from is yet to be determined. With the ducts being cleaned there should have been any concerns noticed and brought to my attention. There were not. Which now leads me to believe that this duct cleaning company did not in fact do their job. They were only downstairs and never upstairs during their cleaning process. There are no ducts in the attic, only downstairs in our basement ceiling tiles and return vents inside the walls. This stuff is way worse in new carpeting and beyond cleaning already after a mere 2 weeks of having it installed. It's like vacuuming a beach in every room. Devastating beyond belief and so far no one has any answers. I'm at a loss for what to do or whom to trust to go to next. Our poor homeowners insurance company probably thinks I'm the one making up stories, yet it's their own companies they hired to come in my home who are the fraudulent ones it looks like more and more. For this amount of stuff to be coming through my vents they definitely should have noticed something wrong and of course they did not. Where to go from here, I don't know. I've taken extreme measures and reached out to the local health department, and even went towards a federal level, just patiently waiting to hear back. This is definitely one for the books and deserves to be all put down in writing with as many twists and turns has it has given me and my family. I'm looked at as being crazy, yet I'm dealing with the worst companies whom have given me a ton of grief over the past almost year that it's been going on. It's a never ending battle that I thought was over once the new carpeting went in. Little did I know it has been the start of making things worse.
You can read some manuals on the web about insulation of the house, but I prefer to read only trusted resources like this website over here, where I could find some awesome tips about insulation, which really helped me in understanding where I can use spray foam for my insulation process, and how to choose qualified insulation materials.
