The term 'western' encompasses several decor styles, such as South-Western/Spanish, UrbanCowboy, Hunting Lodge, Pioneer Log Cabin, ....

Hi! Western as in cowboy? Are you going for a country look? Shiplap, beadboard and such would work for walls and risers. Good luck and stay safe!
Keep the wood natural and add some elements you like (horseshoes) or use a western-theme stencil on the risers.
