Any experiences painting the base of a brass/metal lamp?
your question posted twice so giving answers twice lol
I add a dark glaze to tone down the brassiness and was very please with the outcome. Anytime painting or doing something along these lines, I scuff with fine steel wool and then clean with denatured alcohol.
Spray paint! Give it a good cleaning and then use a spray paint designed for multi-surfaces.
Hi! Clean it really well first, and then use spray paint intended for metal and you will have great results! Good luck and stay safe!
Hi! Rustoleum makes great paint for metal. Stay safe!
Hello after cleaning spray paint could offer many different opportunities.
Rustoleum and Krylon make a good spray paint for metal, you might even want to consider a hammered paint appearance. Just prepare you brass base of the lamp with cleaning and gently roughing up the surface for better adhesion.
Use a Metal Primer and paint for metal or cover it with paper - decoupage and then paint over it.

Here is how I updated the brass lamp. I only spent $5 on them.
Yes, you can spray paint a brass lamp easily. Just choose a paint color you love and spray several thin coates onto the lamp. New addition to your home!
Just clean it well and use spray paint for metal. Use multiple thin coats instead of one thick one
You can spray paint it for sure. Just hold the can a decent distance away and do light thin coats for best results.
Hi Rita, you can certainly paint the brass a new color, you can paint it flat with a chalk paint, or change the color to another type of metal with metallic paint, I used metallic paint to change my light fixture in the bathroom from brass to brushed nickel, it worked great! hope this helps you out, https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Jacquard-Lumiere-Metallic-Acrylic-Paint-2-25oz-8-Pkg/PRD48FF235GXZZ7?cmpid=sem_google_en_pla_none_11186350495_109263881003_None&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQiAvP6ABhCjARIsAH37rbQI6FmbMevqGBKzSGU7a7FxQw-TZ8zMV3wthKBQQ7F3nYijn6jdfVYaAku6EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Your local paint/hardware store will have several good spray paint options. Just make sure you clean it well and a light sanding wouldn't hurt.
I use spray paint on many of my home projects! For anything metal, I rely on Rustoleum products. Would definitely make sure and clean the lamp with diluted dish soap, like Dawn, to remove any grungy stuff, rinse with water, and then wipe down with some cheap alcohol just to make sure the surface is clean before painting. Good luck with your project!
