How can I repair my shower faucet?
My house is really old. The plumbing is horrible. My shower faucet is leaking, even when the water is off. Is this something that I can fix myself? Short on funds.

You could start with replacing the faucet. It sounds as if the internal shut off is where the leak is happening. This leak will run your water bill up quickly, probably enough to cost more than replacing the faucet over 2-3 months.
Hi Najila, here's a youtube video that may be of help. Does the faucet in the video look anything like yours?

I agree, I would start with trying to just replace the shower head first and hoping that will take care of it. If its the internal shower valve that's in the wall that's not shutting off completely you may need to contact a plumber.
It could be the washers are worn in the faucet, you could replace them. Take a picture of your faucet along with the name brand to a diy store. They should be able to help you with parts if they are still available. The more complicated job is to replace the faucet.
In Oregon if you are low income they have a program for that. Call your local food bank and ask they should be able to steer you in the right direction.
you can purchase shower heads for $10 at most hardware stores or online - you can also clean the shower head you have (instructions below) and put in a new washer to see if that stops the leaks

Here is a video that might help you. Even if your faucet is not exactly like the one in the video, it will give you an idea about how to replace the valves and if you think you can do it or not.
