How much should I charge?
Hi, I have a potential client that is requested my services to refinish two dressers(one is a tall 5 drawer and the other is a 8 drawer long dresser). I use Fusion Mineral Paint, they have the new hardware already, still waiting for an update on if there's any damage I would need to repair. I would also be adding a top coat. Any info would be great appreciated!

I would think it might depend on factors. Furniture condition repairs odors sanding can take more time cost +of supplies and your hours.
Are you going to line or paint the inside drawers.
A detailed assessment of hours and product cost involved would be starting factors.

I would call around to others who do this kind of work just to see what they charge for your area
If you've done similar work for yourself or family, you might want to stimate the number of hours of work involved, decide what amount you're willing to work for, and then add a bit to your price presented to the client. The person may have already shopped around and be aware of what the cost might be. Main thing is don't sell yourself short. Better to not do the job than to feel frustrated took on too much work for minimal reward. When you name a price, do so in person and you'll likely get a reaction you can read if you watch carefully.
I would estimate the cost of product AND labor separately. I would figure out how many hours it would take you and then times it by that. Then give them a quote separating how much the labor is versus cost of products such as paint, etc. I would charge lower on the labor until you've done a few products and have a 'portfolio' that shows what you've done. Perhaps do the labor at 50% at first and then gradually increase it as you get more customers.
$500
Only you can decide how much your time is worth. Are you skilled to do it fast? Are you a beginner and it will take more time?
If you utilize facebook, there are a few groups on there that are very helpful. Styling & Staging Your Furniture for Sale is one. Furniture Rehab & Refinishing Addicts - Stain, Paint, Milk/Mineral/Ch is another.
The only person that knows how much time and products you have in a project is you.
Have you ever done this before?
Are you experienced at this?

Hi Alyssa, you could look up what others are charging, or decide what you want to charge based on the cost of materials and the amount of labor you are putting into them
