Updating Thrifted Furniture
If you follow me you know I love ornate furniture and painting it to give it an updated look. Well with this piece I decided to add some gold feet to ELEVATE it to the next level. See what I did there?
I can see the beauty but it was a little short so I bought some new gold legs from Amazon.
While I waited on the legs to come in I went ahead and custom mixed some Behr chalk paints I already had...a turquoise and dark green and got a pretty teal. Once I painted the piece I sprayed the hardware this metallic color. The hardware is brass and the gold legs were clashing with the hardware.
Once the feet arrived we could finally install them to the bottom.
And by we I just mean my husband. He screwed the feet in to the bottom of the wood around the base of this piece.
I dry brushed some paints around the details to make them pop and sealed the entire piece with wax.
I’m certain those legs really took it to the next level! Haha

I have a china cabinet that is just sitting in the garage with no where to go! It was given to me and it comes in two pieces (top glass doors and glass shelving) and the bottom that has a shiny sheen. that green looks awesome. was it a spray paint or brush on. and how would i prep the shiny on my cabinet for painting???!! btw, you did a great job on that cabinet with gold accents!
What a beautiful way to transform a cabinet. I'm going to try this, but I am wondering what was the purpose of the wax?
I mean better balanced just to look at from the front - it’s only a tiny amount - if the feet were moved inwards a little so their outside line was absolutely in line with the sides. Does it have drawers or shelves? Most unusual and quite delicious.
