Cover the cardboard with peel and stick wallpaper
Hi Diana you could also use fabric and mod podge to cover up the carboard. The real question in my mind is how to get it to be free standing. You could purchase plumbing pipe (PVC) and make "T" feet for it.
You can glue the cardboard to a frame out of inexpensive wood purchased or free pallet wood. Add hinges to make it three panel so it will stand strong. Cover the cardboard with material or pre pasted wall paper.
Hello. Your cardboard cut to size, could be covered with optional wrapping paper, wallpaper fabric and positioned for screening for your needs.
You would need to be sure all 4 sides are even and fold every other direction. Pick out some fabric you'd like to cover it with. You may need some stands to hold the cardboard - maybe something similar to this? https://amzn.to/3dzUCAQ That will help hold the balance and keep them from falling down.
What fun! You can measure well and score the cardboard to easily create the diagonal portions of the piece so it doesn't tip over easily. So many ways to cover the cardboard to make it unique, as already mentioned. Have fun with your project.

Cardboard Shoji Screen - Room Partition

That's such a brilliant idea. Amazon sells room divider stands (here's an example - https://www.amazon.com/SQUARE-FURNITURE-Divider-Stand-Black/dp/B07L45B6X5) that you can use to balance the cardboard on and then you can paint and stencil them or glue on a pretty fabric that matches your decor. I would seal them after you've decorated them so they'll easy to clean.
