Hi Diana you could also use fabric and mod podge to cover up the carboard. The real question in my mind is how to get it to be free standing. You could purchase plumbing pipe (PVC) and make 'T' feet for it.

You can glue the cardboard to a frame out of inexpensive wood purchased or free pallet wood. Add hinges to make it three panel so it will stand strong. Cover the cardboard with material or pre pasted wall paper.

You would need to be sure all 4 sides are even and fold every other direction. Pick out some fabric you'd like to cover it with.
