Hi! Like a partition? Does it have another door to enter? A few pictures might help!
Bookcases are the first thing that popped into my mind. You could paint a mural on the back since they are normally so plain.

What about an expandable shower curtain rod and beautiful shower curtain. If you can't fit in the space you can hang round eyehooks from the ceiling and hook curtain to that. Many shower curtains are not see thru. If you need more privacy hang a heavy curtain instead. Lots of deals at the local thrift shops.

Use a heavy duty tension rod across the space and hang a bamboo curtain from it, anchor it at the bottom with something heavy so your kitties won't go under it.
You might be able to find a roll-up blind at a thrift store to hang from the ceiling as a temporary measure to separate the area. If it isn't long enough to go all the way to the floor, you could use a shallow bookcase on either side of the bottom portion of the blind.

Recently we needed more space on a bedroom/office/man-cave/guestroom wall a drop-leaf table and barrister bookcase had been a VERY tight fit.
And so we simply pulled the large heavy bookcase out from the wall pushed it back with the side (NOT THE BACK) abutting the wall now the bookcase is standing perpendicularly from the wall leaving plenty of room for the table and creates a wall the drop-leaf table is now a private writing area a place to stash a messy pile of papers, etc.
I put several hooks on the back of the bookcase to hang clothes, etc. another kind of mess that can not be seen.
Our large heavy Barrister Bookcase became a wall the shelves are filled with all kinds of things, office supplies, books, sweaters, a few pairs of shoes.
Try moving your bureau create a wall with that.
Good luck!

Hello,
Folding Screen, Thick curtain, Sliding doors, Folding doors, Hope that helps,
Hi Marie, see if you can find an inexpensive bookshelf at a thrift store to use as a divider. You can paint it to suit your decor and place some of your favorite books or knick-knacks on the one side and hang a pretty picture or create a photo gallery on the other side.
Maybe a folding screen or large armoire
