Mini Faux Vintage Crate
I hate a bunch of clutter on the back of my sink so I came up with this mini version of a vintage crate to hold my supplies in.
Isn’t it cute!!
I started by measuring the area on the back of my sink. My area measured 10 1/2 inches long by 4 1/2 wide.
I used scrap would I had on hand. This is a rough pine but you could use pallet wood too.
I cut two 10 1/2 inch pieces and two 4 1/2 inch pieces.
Since you are working with small and somewhat thin wood I suggest pre drilling your holes so you don’t split your wood.
After pre drilling I hammered 1 1/2 inch finish nails to keep it together.
Here is the basic frame. Obviously you could make this any size to fit any space you need.
For the bottom of the mini crate I used farm fencing.
I measured the fencing piece and cut it to size. You could also use chicken wire.
I then stapled the fencing to the underside.
Next I cut 4 1in by 3in pieces. I only used two though.
I pre drilled again and nailed the two short pieces into the corners. These are just for “looks” and to give it that crate look. I then gave it a quick stain.
I stamped the lettering on but you could stencil or free hand. I definitely think this step is important as it gives it a vintage vibe.
I hope you enjoyed this project 😊
