I hope this helps Maureen. I have a piece of granite that also has a stain on it, I'm going to try this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp_mXHjO39I

Hi Maureen,
It does depend a bit on what created the stain. Without knowing that, I'll make a general suggestion you can start with.
We like to use natural solutions in our home, and the easiest way is to make a paste with baking soda and water. It should be about the consistency of peanut butter. Then, spread this over the stain and cover with with plastic wrap. You can poke some holes into the plastic with a toothpick and tape the edges down, if you like. Leave it to sit for 24 hours, then remove the plastic, wipe clean and polish with a soft cloth.
If this doesn't work, you can try it again by mixing the baking soda with hydrogen peroxide...but start with the most gentle approach first.
I'd suggest re-sealing your granite afterward to prevent future stains, as well. Hope this helps!
I agree it depends on what it is.
I would oxygenated bleach on it, like Oxyclean.
Here's what was recommended on a website I recently visited.
Make a paste of baking soda and water, or talc with a diluted solution of ammonia, bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Use a soft brush to scrub the stain with the paste and then rinse it thoroughly. If you're getting results from this procedure, repeat it until you're satisfied with the progress.
Hi Maureen, here are a few ideas, based on what the stains are from,

How to Remove Hard Water Stains From Granite
What ever you do DO NOT use white vinegar it will etch the granite. I use a spray bottle filled 1/3 with alcohol, 5 drops of dawn platinum, and fill with water. You could dry Bark keepers Friend Soft scrub liquid, not the powder.
This sounds like a fix for your stain, whether it is oily or not:
