Crepe Myrtle tree was cut down years ago but small trees keep coming up from roots left behind. Any thing I can put on or in it to kill the tree stump.

Remember that over time the tree will grow around whatever you put in. if you think it is something you will want to remove later, make sure you account for tree growth.

Hi Janice, you can do this without hurting the tree, but it will grow around what ever you attach. If you are mounting a sign or fairy door, etc. you will be arlight

It shouldn't cause any damage to the tree. As long as you don't remove the surrounding bark. Remember that it will grow over whatever you put there. Once, my son laid a chain around a tree trunk in the woods. About 10 years later it was leaning and we hired it cut down. The only evidence of the chain was that it appeared a chain was growing out of the trunk. The length around the trunk was completely grown over.
