How to hang a roman shade over a window?
I have a custom-made roman shade made for an outside mount to my window. What is the best way to attach the shade to the wall? Do I need to attach wood to mount the shade on above the window?

You shouldn't need wood, there should be a header above the window, but it depends on how high above the window you're going to mount it. Here's a video that might help you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cscRYhHW5Q
I would say you could mount to the header of the window
Hi Ann there shoulder framing around the window (behind the drywall) so you should be able to just attach your shade to that :)

If you can locate the stud and it is appropriate spacing you won’t need wood. If not, then adding wood would be one way to go. You could use anchor screws that expand as well.
Center over the window and check for studs to fasten the shade to. Wall anchors can be used if you are mounting above the framing for the window. A stud finder makes the job easier. Good luck!

Put it on a curtain rod the ones that you put on the bracket and pul down to fasten they stick away from the window a little they work best you could get a streight kind about 2,3 inches off wall or get a bowed kind Home Depot sells them
Hello there,
Yes I would have thought so. I had a frame I left behind when \i removed the shade from my old home!
You can install them either using an interior mount, where the shades are hung inside of the window frame, or with the use of an exterior mount, where shades are attached to the wall above the window.
All the ones I had, had a wooden board on top that you mounted inside the window top frame. If yours doesn't have the mounting board, maybe you could add a large wire clip in the top of the shades rings, and then mount that to the window using a cafe curtain rod.... either mounted outside the window frame, or if its one of the old style white ones that has the end pieces that slide over the bracket to the inside of the window frame..... https://www.amazon.com/Spring-Window-Fashions-16-Inch-Curtain/dp/B08WY9RWHR/ref=sr_1_34?crid=C0551DWYEGNU&dchild=1&keywords=cafe+curtain+rods+for+windows+28+to+48+inch&qid=1625361077&s=home-garden&sprefix=cafe+curtain+rods%2Cgarden%2C262&sr=1-34
