Lori Jackson on Aug 31, 2014Gina, the basement is not an option. It is a small cellar, unventilated with two gas appliances. Latex is not a problem, but what to do with oil based products is.Helpful Reply

Melisa Paul Howard on Sep 01, 2014I always store my left over paint in mason jars so that I can see the color and how much is left under my kitchen sink. The controlled temperature in the house keeps it from ruining and I always have easy access to it. Hope this helps!Helpful Reply

Lori Jackson on Sep 01, 2014I like the idea of transferring to glass. Right now, it is rather a lot of paint. I think our upstairs closet in a guest room is going to become paint central. A friend made a very compelling argument for not storing ANY paint in the basement due to the issue of rust and resulting damage to paint.Helpful Reply

Shirley Kalinosky on Sep 01, 2014I would use the glass jar idea but put some saran wrap under the lid so it won't rust.Helpful Reply

Anna on Sep 03, 2014Pour the paint into a screw-top glass jar. Put Vaseline on the rim and on the jar threads. Make sure there is no paper/etc inside the jar lid. If there is any paper, remove it. Put plastic wrap over the top of the jar. Screw the top on the jar. Turn the jar upside down to store.Helpful Reply
