Darla on Sep 06, 2014If you can't nail or drill, maybe you could use something like Liquid Nails to attach a freestanding shed to the side of the house. Why can't you nail or drill? Is it metal or vinyl siding or a wood product?Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Sep 07, 2014Screw a wooden frame on the side of the home. Before you fasten the wood, which should be treated, squeeze some clear silicon between the outside siding and the wood to create a water tight seal. Then once that is complete you can use this wood to fasten sides and a roof on the top. Finish this by using a exterior door on the front.Helpful Reply

Sallymom on Sep 07, 2014Thanks so much, will pass all the information on. I also will try to find out if the exterior is vinyl or plastic(?) or I understand this makes a great deal of difference. She said the TV cable man had a very difficult time just installing the Direct connection.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Sep 07, 2014The exterior siding type should make little difference. The satellite dish is a bit heavy and they need something solid they can screw into. The siding on this structure sometimes cannot support extra loads if the screws are not connected directly into the wooden frame within the building. But given enough screws and using a silicone or even a contractors adhesive once its connected, it will never pull off. Ideally there should be a small foundation in which the structure should sit upon. This takes the weight off of the side of the home. But properly fastened you should be able to construct a good small structure that will house the filter unit. Be sure to make it large enough not only to work on the new filter, but large enough to use as some storage for future items. If your going through all that work, it is not that much more expensive to make is a few foot wider. Cover it in plywood and use vinyl siding and trim material.Helpful Reply

Sallymom on Sep 08, 2014Found out what the siding is: ' Hardy Plank' (cement siding) very hard and very brittle if screwed into. This is what makes it difficult...would your system above work on this type cement siding?Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Sep 08, 2014Yes Hardiplank siding is a top of the line product. Simply use a masonry drill to make a small pilot hole and use stainless or double dipped galvanized screws to hold the frame onto the wall. They do make self drilling screws with the drill bit right on the end. They will work also, but using treated lumber you need the special screws or the chemicals in the wood will dissolve the metal and it will come off of the house.Helpful Reply
