A bed that floats?! Or at least looks like it's floating? This is a great weekend project that will make you the coolest parent on your block!

Using a simple secret takes this bed from okay to awesome!
First build a frame using 2 X 4s to match the size of your mattress you'll be using. There are many platform bed tutorials on the web that can give you specific measurements for your mattress size.
Next, create the base using 2 X 12s. Make sure it's about 6 inches less than the frame of your bed.
Set the frame on top of your base and toenail them together.
We used MDF to create a top for the mattress to lay on. *TIP* Paint all your showing pieces before you assemble them make the build much quicker.
Here's the secret. Purchase rope light from your Big Box store and attach under the frame using the clips that come with the light kit.
Not only is it relatively easy, super cheap, and really cool, but it also is functional! The warm lights create an awesome night light. No more bedtime battles when your kid gets to sleep in this fun bed!
