Running water in toilet

Charles Rob Robinson on Jan 27, 2015Adjust the float, there's usually a screw to turn, take care to watch which way you turn, you want the float to go down.Helpful Reply

Gary Wamboldt on Jan 27, 2015The flapper is not closing all the way. The chain on the flapper is probably too tight.Helpful Reply

Jim on Jan 27, 2015I agree with both the above, also check the chain to make sure it isn't kinked.Helpful Reply

Linda 4 Real on Jan 27, 2015If it is the chain getting hung up, when you flush be sure to wiggle the flush handle until you hear it seal off. You can figure this out by doing this with top off to see if flapper is closing properly. A tip to save on water is to fill a 20 oz bottle of water and close tightly and put into tank. it will take place of how mush water you need to fill after each flush.Helpful Reply

Linda 4 Real on Jan 27, 2015If you are unsure of level remove the top and put a level on it to rule that outHelpful Reply

Linda Parrish on Jan 30, 2015That happened to us recently. It turned out to be a bad ball cock, a.k.a. the FLAPPER That's the rubber thingy that plugs the hole so water won't keep running into the toilet. Just a tiny nick, piece of debris etc. can cause it to leak just enough to cause the water to turn on in the tank. A 2 second fix with a new ball cock took care of the problem.Helpful Reply

Susan Ziegler on Jan 31, 2015Wow, the same thing happened to me twice. I redid my bathrooms. two of them at different times. and each time the new toilets would start running, shut off then start again. I kept jiggling them and eventually they started running constantly so the contractor came out and found that the tank level was set too high and that would cause them to run. He fixed them by setting the level lower. There was nothing wrong with either of them.Helpful Reply
