3po3 on Jan 12, 2013Have you tried Goof Off. That seems to get rid of everything. Another suggestion is to sprinkle some baking soda on the spot, then try to wipe it down with hot water.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jan 13, 2013Dissolving hardened sugar requires some "contact" time and a fair amount of water the hotter the better. I hope that the wood beneath is well sealed as this combination of heat and water is pretty bad to the wood itself. I would attack this with a tea pot full of near boiling water and position the table so it is at an angle and the water will drain off. dumping the water from a height will provide a bit more "force". I use this method to clean the sugar residue off my Ipe (hardwood deck) below our humming bird feeders. If you can do this outside great, for inside use some large water proof container to "catch" the run off. If you have a cooler for camping or picnics it could be just the ticket.Helpful Reply

Deanna Whitten on Jan 15, 2013Use hot water and a little bit of elbow grease. Also, use salt next time you have ants. Works like a charm.Helpful Reply

Jean dudley on Jun 04, 2015I used black pepper, yes, black pepper! It works great. I sprinkeled pepper behind the stove, between cracks, etc. I haven't seen an ant in weeks!! just try it.Helpful Reply

B. Enne on Jun 04, 2015I had the same problem on a vinyl floor, I used hot water (let it sit a bit) and a metal putty knife and kept plugging away until it was gone. I think I also used vinegar...wood is a different story. I guess that it why people use saturated cotton balls. I would have used them, had I known back then.Helpful Reply

Marlene Pabon on Jul 18, 2015I have put the same mixture, on cotton balls, around the perimeter of the house(inside) it does help, but they keep on coming in from outside, but I don't have as much as I used to! Just have to keep on doing the same...Helpful Reply
