Create Bookends by Upcycling Toys

You can easily create bookends by upcycling toys. Make them various colors by painting and or staining the wood.
Start by upcycling toys from various places like thrift stores. If your kiddos are outgrowing certain things, you can even raid their toy box.

started by cutting two blocks or small square planks out of these pallets seen here. I adjusted the size of the pallet wood according to each upcycled toy I used. I attached the blocks together in an L shape with wood glue and screws.
See my blog to age the wood using this esay technique at http://www.viralupcycle.com/create-bookends-by-upcycling-toys.
I used hard plastic animals. If you’re going to cut them in half with a chop saw, I cannot stress enough to make sure your upcycled toys are hard plastic.

Please see my post for additional instructions for cutting.

After I cut the toy figures, I spray painted them with Rustoleums silver metallic.
I attached the ends of the upcycled toys with E6000 glue to the wooden L blocks.
