Sandra Lankford on Feb 04, 2013Vinegar and water is one of the best ways to clean just about anything. Kills alot of bacteria and is very good on certain floors like ceramic, linolem. If you add baking soda you have a powerful healthy all purpose cleaner. Check out the many pinterest sites for more info.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Feb 04, 2013Vinegar's use as a disinfectant is often over rated as a cure all. REAL scientific studies put it way at the bottom for its effectiveness as a disinfectant. http://www.unc.edu/depts/spice/dis/ICHE-2000-Jan-p33.pdf When tested on E. coli the vinegar had a log reduction factor of 0.4 while bleach came in at greater than 5.6 For those unfamiliar with log scale each "log" is a factor of 10. 1 log = 10 2 log = 100 3 log = 1000 4 log = 10,000 5 log = 100,000 6 log = 1,000,000 So basic bleach is about half a million times better at killing E coli than vinegar.Helpful Reply

Sherrie on Feb 07, 2013What to remember here is vinegar can be used in some flooring but not all. Never use it wood, engineered wood, prakay, solid oak. When you clean flooring you are cleaning the finish. To find out what you can and can't use google your flooring and cleaning and installation instructions. This is what the manufactor would give you when you bought the flooring originally. I always do this before I clean a business or residential home. Then I know the absolutely right cleaning products to use. Vinegar has its place. But over the years I have seen so many surfaces damaged because it is used wrong. I am only ant vinegar because it is used wrong. Many many people have said their Grandmothers used this on their wood floors. Well their Grandmother's wood floors were waxed using a paste several times a year. And it protected their floors better. But when you clean wood floors with it the underneath of the floors aren't protected by the sealer so it does even more damage, we use very little water to clean this flooring. It damages. These floors should last a life time with proper care. Whew my vinegar rant is over.. Back to work. : )Helpful Reply
