I just redecorated our guest bath with a rustic automotive theme. Paint and fresh wall decor from Hobby Lobby.com was inexpensive and completely changed the mood of the room. If you plan on painting the cabinets be sure to use a Kilz product primer before adding your paint.
I saw a bathroom with a ocean theme. Rope wound around mirrors, sea shells in shadow boxes, painted a crisp blue and white.
It would help to have a photo of the current bathroom. I just renovated a master bath and half bath. They look fabulous, and we did nearly all the work ourselves (except hooking up the new tub in MB).
Please post a picture of what your bathroom looks like now, so that it can see what it is that you have to work with now. There will be no end to ideas tossed out, but they might not be realistic for your budget, or possible within the confines of the size of the room.
Back splash ideas that will hold up to the heat wetness of the bathroom
