Framing a bathroom mirror

Question

My master bath mirror sits in a chrome channel that runs the width of the mirror. I want to use wood molding for a frame but how to I accommodate the channel on the bottom?

Cut a small groove on the back side of the BOTTOM piece of molding to accommodate the chrome channel. This is called a rabbet....I'm sure you'll find the technique described somewhere. You may need a thicker piece of molding due to this needed cut.

I put mine on top of the channel too and you can't tell. If you are going to paint your frame, 
remember to paint the back of your wood an inch or so on all sides.

I did it once by routing the moulding....but it really pay off for me....a lot of work for not much result. Since then I have first, painted the moulding on both sides (so the unfinished part doesn't show in the mirror) and second used liquid nails to adhere to the track. I used masking tape to help hold it in place while it dried. I have done this both with an assembled and non-assembled frame.
