Agree. My 1980s bathroom light has been taken down, sanded a bit and spray painted twice over the years. So far the glass shades have survived my decorating changes but that's a fun change to make. The original 'brass' finish was tarnished and horrible but I only repainted the second time for a change. Spray paint holds up well so long as it doesn't get handled a lot.

Take it down and spray paint the fixture, change the globes, and use daylight light bulbs. Surprising how that helps!
